• Severe toothache: First, gently floss around the affected tooth to ensure that there is nothing stuck between it and the adjacent tooth. An over-the-counter anti-inflammatory medicine like ibuprofen may be taken to diminish the pain. Never place aspirin against the tooth or the gums, as this can damage the tissue.
